Yesterday evening I stained the tile with some red wine and the
elixir of boiled onion skins ...
Das mit den Zwiebelschalen hatte ich schon seit einiger Zeit ausprobieren wollen, da man je bekanntermaßen Zwiebelschalen auch zum Färben von Ostereiern benutzen kann. Also habe ich erst den Sud gekocht, die Zwiebelschalen herausgenommen, den Sud weiter eingekocht. Und dann hat es mit dem Färben ganz wunderbar funktioniert.
I had planned to try staining with onion skins for quite a while as I knew that they can be used for dying easter eggs too.
So I cooked the onion skins in little water, took them out, boiled the broth for some more time to further reduce it. And then staining worked just beautifully.
Ich habe einen Ring mit Rotwein, den anderen mit Zwiebelsud gefärbt. Die Flüsigkeiten sind ineinandergelaufen und haben so verschiedene Farbtöne ergeben. Einige pure Rotweinfleckchen sind fast blaugrau geworden.
Ich habe nur mit den Micron Stiften in schwarz, braun und sepia gearbeitet, dazu Bleistift und weißer Kreidestifft. Alle anderen Farben stammen aus dem Zwiebelsud und dem Rotwein.
I made one circle with red wine, the other with onion elixir. The fluids mixed and thus produced different shades of color. Some pure red wine patches are almost a bluish grey.
I only worked with Micron pens in black, brown and sepia, as well as pencil and white crayon. All the other colors come from the onion elixir and the red wine.

This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your process. I saw Margaret Bremner use onion skins for her Eco-dyed tiles on her blog and now I must definitely try it! Thank you for the inspiration;-)

It is the vine. When you spill some that means you must be drinking it and then Dansk an all other tons of lines tangles seem to be a breeze to draw. ... I am off to the vine store...
